Toss Expired Food in Your Refrigerator and Freezer
Welcome to Day 4 of the Whip Your Kitchen Into Shape challenge! If you missed the introduction to the challenge, go here to find out all about it.
Today's task will hopefully be a little quicker than the past couple tasks!
Today, we're going through our refrigerator and freezer to toss any food that has gone bad. While this task didn't take me all that long, I found it to be a bit humbling. I had no idea how much food I had allowed to expire! I traveled a lot over the past couple months and that contributed to not eating some of our food before it went bad. I opened my refrigerator and looked at each label, so I could get rid of anything that is expired and start with a clean slate.
I did the same in the freezer and this is what I ended up needing to throw out:
There was milk in there that expired almost a month ago:
Plus I found some frozen chicken breast that I had bagged and frozen nearly two years ago! Wow, clearly I need to do this more often! Doing this helped me realize that I need to be more careful about my food purchases, and I need to focus more on eating what we have before buying more food. I'm definitely going to keep this in mind when I'm grocery shopping.
The refrigerator already looked better, even before doing any wiping down or intentional organizing (that will come later):
Go ahead and organize your refrigerator and toss expired food!
Then stop by our challenge Facebook group to tell us how it went or share photos on Instagram with the hashtag #KitchenChallenge. I can't wait to see your progress!
