Hi friends! Hannah, from I Heart Planners here! Anyone who knows me well, knows that I love a good Target run. There's just something almost magical about those red and gray carts, the seasonal ceiling decor, the easily accessible Starbucks drinks and that ever tempting dollar area.
Ok, maybe I'm being a little dramatic, but I really do love Target. I was a Target fan pre-kids, but since having kids, Target has just become my mom get-a-way! If we had a rough night? Let's go to Target and get some Starbucks. Have we been stuck inside lately? Let's go to Target and stroll the aisles. It is just such a great outing for me and my girls. My ever so patient husband has been known to send me to Target by myself when he knows I've had a rough day and need some self-therapy. haha!
You probably also know from my other guest posts with Laura, that I also love my home to be neat and organized! This goes hand in hand with my love for Target and all their bins, boxes, tubs and organization ideas. (If anyone knows of a job opening where I could set up Target's organization stock photos, gimme a call because getting to set up and play with all the different color options and size options is basically a dream job for me!)
Given the information above, you may be surprised to know that I don't have a lot of different kinds of storage bins. One thing that I feel strongly about when it comes to organizing my two bedroom apartment, is that consistency is my friend. My process includes thinking through the space and “need” very carefully before selecting multiple of the exact same container. Being consistent about the containers you buy provides so many benefits!
Easy to stack! — Making the most use of my closet space is a priority for me! Easily stackable bins or tubs makes all the difference in the world when it comes to using space efficiently.
Easy to move! — By using the same tubs in my girl's bedroom closet that I use in my bedroom closet, I make things easier on myself. If I ever need to adjust the locations of a specific tub, I'm not left with the dilemma of buying more tubs or dealing with odd tubs.
Looks nice! — While this isn't the only reason I am organized, I know that I personally function so much better when my living space looks nice and put together.
I have put together my top 7 favorite organization tools from Target! I include what I love about each one and how I use it in my home.
These tubs are my go-to, hard core, sturdy, stable, large storage containers. I keep these in my walk in closet and in my girl's closet. They stack great, and are sturdy enough to hold other things on top if needed.
These tubs are, in my experience, the most economical tub that Target offers. They are slightly less sturdy than some of the other options, but they are 1 quart bigger than a lot of similar styles. I use these to store my children's clothing and some toys in the top of the closets. They are light and super easy to manage, although when they are stacked, because they are so lightweight, they can fall over somewhat easily.
These are probably my favorite! I love using these bins. I use these in my office area for crafts, office supplies, card storage, etc. I also use them to store the majority of my children's toys! They are thicker and sturdier than the clear and white tubs, however, their only fault is they are a quart smaller.
This is a winner. I have three of these, and I have used them for everything from toys to bottles to office supplies! They come with wheels if you would like them to roll, and they come apart easily to clean. Their only fault is that they will come apart if you lift from the top and have heavy items in the bottom. The drawers are smooth and easy to open. It always amazes me how much these drawers can hold! They are sturdy and can hold heavy items too!
Target keeps coming out with different colors and sizes of these bins, and I'm obsessed with all of them! I have the large and medium one in white for my laundry room. They work great because they are opaque enough to cover some of the not so Pinterest perfect real life laundry room essentials, but open enough that you can still manage what is in them. I also LOVE using cute *plastic* bins when I can because they are so much easier to clean than fabric. I also use these in my girl's bedroom drawers. Kid's clothes are so little that I found myself wasting space! So I can stack these bins in the drawers to help keep the clothes organized and to make the most of the space!
This box was a spur of the moment purchase, but I ended up going back for another. I kind of wish now that I had gotten more because they work so well! I keep my kid's outdoor stuff tucked away in these bins. That way if they put a wet bucket back, first of all, it isn't going to water stain any cute, fabric basket, but also the holes in the tub allow air to get through and dry stuff out! These stack incredibly well, and the lids are just lift off so that little hands don't have trouble getting into the goodies!
That's it! Those are my Target organization recommendations!
