Organize Your Spices
Welcome to Day 6 of the Whip Your Kitchen Into Shape challenge! If you missed the introduction to the challenge, go here to find out all about it.
Today's task is to organize your spices.
First, make sure all your spices are in one space. (I found a couple random spice jars outside of my normal spice storage area.)
Next, consolidate any spices that you can. I found that I had a couple partially used jars of cumin, so I was able to consolidate them into one.
If you have spice jars like mine that you need to refill, go ahead and top them off.
My hanging spice rack is from Ikea, and I love it! I also made labels for my spice jars:
One important piece of advice if you are just starting out with a system like this: when filling your spice jars make sure you label them first, then pour your spices into the jar. Don’t do what I did and pour all your spices in, and then try to figure what spices are what! It’s a lot harder than you think as many of them look pretty similar. I may still have my onion powder labeled as garlic powder and vice versa.
The spice jar labels are available in my Etsy shop. They are my most popular item in the shop.
Now organize your spices.
Then stop by our challenge Facebook group to show us how it looks, or share the before and after photos on Instagram with the hashtag #KitchenChallenge. I can't wait to see your progress!
