Welcome to our 12th and final step in the 12 Steps to Christmas Sanity Challenge hosted by myself and Liz from Hoosier Homemade. Today we're talking about organizing Christmas decoration with a couple free printables to help you get it organized.
Organizing your holiday decoration will make it much easier in years to come to find what you need and get it all set up quickly. There are just 3 quick and easy steps to keeping all your decor organized:
Step One: Don't Store What You Won't Use
If you've read my other blog posts, you probably already know that I'm a huge fan of purging and decluttering. The less stuff you have, the easier it is to store, find, and use it. There is no reason to store Christmas decor that you don't use or don't love. It's okay to get rid of it. Also, if you (like me) don't have a lot storage space for your holiday decor, consider decorating less so you can get rid of more. Personally, I don't even decorate every year, but when I do, I stick with just one tree in our main living area. Even if you love to deck out your entire house, you may still have some items that you don't need anymore and can get rid of.
Step Two: Containerize and Label!
When you put your decoration away, make sure to label every box and bin. It will be hard to remember what is inside each box a year from now, so labeling will help a lot. Also, it will make things much easier when it comes time to put everything away. You will know exactly where it goes. I think using the same labels on each bin can help unify the look if you're using mis matched bins. I don't want to spend a lot of money on matching containers, so instead I'm just using pretty labels to unify everything. I love all the cool Christmas decor organizing containers, but sometimes I think you could easily spend more money on those than on the decoration itself!

Step Three: Inventory
Next, I recommend taking inventory of all the decoration you have. It can be hard to remember what you have or what you need, and you don't want to have to rummage through a bunch of bins to find what you have.
