My Favorite Dollar Tree Organizing Products
If you'd like to get organized on a budget, Dollar Tree organizing products are a fantastic tool. They have a great selection of organizing items, and, of course, they are all just a dollar.
First up, we have my number one favorite:
My favorite item is definitely their little white bins. They have a few different sizes, and they're perfect for organizing drawers. The smaller ones are 3 for $1 and the larger ones are 2 for $1. I will say that the plastic is pretty flimsy. However, they aren't supporting a lot of weight and they don't stack, so that has never been a problem for me.
Next up, we have these shallow interlocking bins. These fit so perfectly inside my upper kitchen cabinets, that they look they were made for it. It does a fantastic job of maximizing space, and they're very sturdy. I used these chalkboard labels on them, which work great. I can even erase the label if I want to change the contents.
I also used some in another cabinet here (and I think the plastic shoeboxes may be from the Dollar Tree as well).
I also love these XL “Ziploc” bags. This size comes 2 in a pack. They do have some other sizes as well. These seem sturdy, seal well, and are perfect for packing away outgrown clothes to be stored in the attic.
Here's what the box looks like if you are looking for them. (I also like that the boxes store neatly before the bags are used.)
Last we have these red handled plastic bins. I've used them in my laundry room and hope to use them eventually in the garage to organize medium size tools. The handles are great, so you can easily pull the bin off higher shelves.
What are your favorite Dollar Tree products?

This makes me wish we had a Dollar Tree near us. The closest we have is a Dollar General, so I’ll have to scope out if they have great buys as well!

I’ve found several little bins to organize with at Dollar General! I saw some new, pretty decorative boxes yesterday! I haven’t found the bins with handles at my local Dollar Tree, though. Want some!

Post authorI have a Family Dollar near me and they have some good organizing bins. I’ve found that each Dollar Tree tends to have something different and they don’t always have a huge stock.

99cent Only is a great place too!!

Sorry, I just now got to read your comment and here it is 2017. My local Dollar Tree didn’t have the bins with handles either. Went on Dollar Tree website and found them. Now you have no choice of color. Mine are red and green. Had to buy case of 24. But that was ok because even my granddaughter saw them and took 4 to organize a space in her small college dorm. Had them delivered to my local store which meant shipping was free. Sorry this is a couple of years later.

Daisy stores have the handle bins in translucent white for $1.50.
Jean Says
I have seen them on Dollar Tree.com, they offer them in several colors.
LauraJane Says
Post authorDollar General usually has some good organizing bins. My Dollar Tree isn’t too near me, so I’m not able to go often.

Big Lots also carries a lot of reasonably priced storage bins/baskets. Many are $1.00, others a little more.

Post authorGreat idea – I haven’t been there in a while.

I love your posts about the Dollar Tree. It really is my favorite store, I always find great deals. With coupons, I manage to get so many items at great prices. My favorite are their huge selection of craft supplies.
LauraJane Says
Post authorYes, the Dollar Tree is great for a lot of things. It’s fun to browse and see what they have.
Karen M. Roth Says
I have to say I agree with you on the Craft supplies π
—
I often use the flower arranging baskets for storage.
—
I use index cards to organize my Verses I like to remember.
—
I am using 10 blue locker bins in my bookcase for craft supplies and DYI stuff. 2 Bigger ones for my crochet threads and my Bible Study Books. 4 smaller ones for various items.
—
I am using 10 shoe boxes from the Dollar Tree for my shoes on a set of shelves my dear departed Pa Bear made. But the lids do not really latch. I do prefer Sterilite but…..when you cannot afford them you buy what you can… “A beggar cannot be a chooser” as the old saying goes :).
—
This is not Dollar Tree but…..During the summer my hubby likes to eat alot of Kentucky Friend Chicken Grilled, of course, so I get a ton of those cute little plastic containers the sides come in . The ones with the red lids. I just washed them out and now I am storing flatback pearls, buttons, pins for sewing, plastic flower hooks and the smaller binder clips in.
—
Empty Spice Jars are good, too.
—
I have used a couple of placemats from the Dollar Tree to make a Christmas card holder π
—
Sometimes I use things from Bi-Mart. Like the Lazy Susan and their 3 Drawer units ones on wheels and ones without and I just spray paint the frame and modge podge fabric on the drawer fronts.I am using the metal magnetic containers to hold my colored buttons in on a Dollar Tree Cookie Sheet I decoupaged a Tropical Napkin onto.
—
I took a Dollar Tree Mirror and used it to hold my Centerpieces over the years it looks really elegant to have a sweet Cherub and a candle glowing on it with a set of grapes in front of the candle with a vase with silk flowers in it with an ivy vine wrapped around the vase, some loose plastic pearls and an old broken watch that still has the band intact. <—some of you may call this decor or decorating but I call it organizing my centerpiece π
—
I have used Dollar Tree calendars to keep my schedule organized.
—
I have used a picture frame and turned it into a menu board. It is so adorable! I will have to get a post done up on it sometime soon.

Okay, can ya tell I love the Dollar Tree π

]Being in Canada I get the dollar tree but they have much different items but I love the ideas from your favorites. We also have dollarama which I love. Makes me want to pop over there now and see what I can find. I am working to organize my back and front entry closets.
LauraJane Says
Post authorI’ve seen some Dollarama products on blogs, and it looks like they have some great stuff as well. The ideal would be if you live close enough to go to both!

I use the red bins to organize all of my kids’ art supplies.
It’s easy to slide in and out on the shelves and the handle makes it handlable π for little hands.

It’s crazy but I have four Dollar Tree stores near me and they all carry different stuff. For those without a DT nearby, I’m almost positive you can place an online order and have it shipped to you. I haven’t visited their website for quite some time so I don’t know what the online content is like but it’s worth a look!
LauraJane Says
Post authorThat’s great that you have so many near you. They do tend to carry different items. You can buy things from there online although they don’t have everything available online.

I honestly don’t think I can live without the Dollar Tree stores. There are a number of them within a 10 mile radius; and, I try to visit each one when in that neighborhood, as they do offer different items. I am a crafter and use the bins for just about all of my supplies (glue stks., dots, liquid glue in one; scissors in one; embellishment flowers in one; bling in one; ribbon in another – you get the idea). When I want something it is much easier to find and then return when I’ve completed the project. I also use them in the kitchen and bathroom cabinets to consolidate smaller items; and in the medicine cabinet for storing those hard to find tweezers, thermometers, etc. Thanks for sharing your usage. We can always learn a new purpose for so many interesting containers.
LauraJane Says
Post authorWow, several stores near you – that’s great! They do tend have different things.

My husband and I are moving to a Homeless and needy ministry in May to work as missionaries. We will be moving into one room. Your organizing tips will help me a great deal. We are moving from a 2 bedroom house. Figuring out what to take and what to sell and then organizing everything once we get there is a bit overwhelming. Thank you for all your ideas, and I am looking forward to seeing more!
Blessings,
Trish

My local $ Tree also had small containers with locking lids that were perfect for my daughter to use in organizing her desk drawers in her college dorm. Just think outside the box. LOL

Hi!
I’ve used the dollar tree bins with handles in my fridge! I can fit 4 on the top shelf and one has my jams, then condiments, then salad dressings and sandwhich items. Very cool use for storage!
Debra Says
I use those handled bond in my fridge.
I have one for salad dressings, one for mayo, mustare, etc. Also one for hot sauces (Hubby and son love got sauce!), and one each for pickles and olives.
I put a label on the handle, so it’s easy to see what’s what.
I just have to pull out the bin when I need condiments.
Debra Says
That should say “bins. Not “bond”, but can’t edit comment.

take caution with the ziploc bags in the attic if you live in a climate that gets hot in the summer. My stored maternity clothes were in one and the bag didn’t survive the Texas summers.

Thank you for sharing! It’s so fun to see how others use products from the Dollar Tree to organize. I love their little wire shelves that give you double the space in your cabinets. (Do you know which ones I mean?) I use them to stack mugs vertically in my kitchen cabinet and to put their little plastic bins on under the bathroom sink to use more of the vertical space there. Super awesome!

We have Dollar King Store near me and they have good products under $1.99. They also have a website to shop online. Its a really a great experience to me with Dollar King.
