DECLUTTERING
Tasha has done a lot of decluttering throughout her house and has quite a pile of items to be donated. She has been working really hard on her guest room closet which has become the catch all space. She says this closet is full of delayed decisions, those items she isn’t quite sure what to do with so she puts them in the closet to come back to later.
She has grown into adulthood hearing about organizing and decluttering. So for years she has decluttered multiple times a year and she is still amazed that there is always more to declutter.
During this round of decluttering she found a gift that she loved and used to use all the time, but as life circumstances changed, she didn’t use it anymore. It has been difficult to get rid of because she really did love this gift and it was really nice. She’s been holding on to it for years, but discovered that now she feels ready to let it go.
HOME PROJECTS
Tasha and her husband have been doing some outdoor home improvement projects such as pressure washing and simple landscaping. During this time, she has discovered that she enjoys these home projects and the experience she has as she arrives home and everything looks so nice.
SMOOTHIES
Tasha is back to making and enjoying smoothies. They are something she doesn’t drink when the weather is cold. But since the weather is warming up, she’s wanting them again and they are a good way to get her fruit in. Her blender broke last fall and she purchased a new one that she is really enjoying. It’s much quieter than her previous one and it takes up less space.
YNAB
YNAB stands for You Need A Budget and this is budgeting app that Tasha and Laura both use. It allows you to see all of your transactions and allows you to set up budgeting categories so you can always know where your money is going and set up those budgets to reduce the stress of overspending.
RUNNING
Tasha’s favorite form of exercise is running, especially as the weather gets nicer and the sun is out more. She hasn’t been super consistent, but every time she goes for a run she enjoys it and the endorphins she gets from it. If running isn’t your thing, find some form of movement or exercise that does make you happy.
ROASTED VEGGIES
Tossing veggies in some oil, and sprinkling them with salt and pepper has become a new addiction for Tasha. Her favorites include broccoli, cauliflower, potatoes, carrots, onions, and bell pepper.
She has found that when she goes ahead and preps the veggies as soon as she brings them home from the store, it saves her so much time when it’s time to make dinner.
APPRECIATING NATURE
This is one that is so easy to do in the spring. The earth seems to explode with the trees getting their leaves and the flowers starting to bloom.
Tasha has learned from her husband and his family to appreciate nature more in the last few years, to sit and just take a moment to feel the joy of nature around you.
Life is full of heavy things, but there are also good and beautiful things. We can hold both at the same time, and something as simple as appreciating nature is a great way to do that.
CLEANING THE KITCHEN
Tasha’s favorite feeling is to wake up, get a clean mug, make a cup of coffee and enjoy it while sitting on the couch, and to not have a pile of dishes in the sink or stuff piled on the kitchen island.
She learned to make this a priority over months and years of seeing the results, which was a great motivator. We don’t always want to do the dishes, but when we do it consistently we always enjoy the payoff the next morning.
PAINTED TOENAILS
This is something Tasha hasn’t done in a couple of years. She gets two to three pedicures a year with her sister-in-law or a friend or maybe for a special occasion. She decided she would do it herself this time and she’s enjoying the results, especially with sandal weather approaching.
MAKING PROGRESS ON WORK PROJECTS
Finally, making progress on work projects such as the podcast and the Get Organized HQ Virtual summit has been bringing Tasha less stress and more peace. Even though these projects are exciting to work on, they can come with stress.
Sometimes things don’t work the way they are supposed to. But Tasha feels blessed to do what she does. She and Laura are best friends and work so well together. Her work brings her joy, fulfillment and good relationships and she gets to put creativity, thought and logic into something and see results.
Those things are exciting and motivating while at the same time it can make her want to pull her hair out. But Tasha believes we have the capacity to hold both the good and the bad at the exact same time. So hopefully this list will give you ideas that will bring a little more goodness into your grasp.
