We Turn One and Lots of Gifts for You!

About a month ago, I Heart Planners quietly had its first birthday (the new I Heart Planners site officially launched on May 1, 2014). I considered celebrating our birthday but thought it wasn't really necessary. Also, I didn't know whether to celebrate the start of the blog and business (under the name Super Sweet Life 2.5 years ago) or when we became I Heart Planners, so I moved on. However, we've made a lot of changes here recently including moving our office (from an upstairs bedroom to the basement) and having my husband begin working with me, and it got me feeling a little nostalgic. So now I really do want to take a moment to pause and celebrate before rushing on to the next thing.

You all have been such a huge part of this, and I can't thank you enough for being such loyal readers and customers, so I'll get to straight to the gifts for you part, and then I'll take a trip down memory lane with you.

Now for the nostalgic part of the celebration! So much has happened here at this very desk:

I remember sitting here 2.5 years ago and making the commitment to myself that I would quit dreaming about starting my own business. I decided to stop analyzing every little detail and every little risk and just dive in and get to work! I hit ‘publish' on this post introducing my very first Sweet Life Printable Planner for sale with butterflies in my stomach. Would anybody really want what I had to offer (much less actually pay money for it)? What if they don't like it? What if I fail? I tried to sound all upbeat and confident, but I was really apprehensive and doubtful. I was beyond thrilled to sell just a few copies!

I remember making my first sale on Etsy, and I remember the excitement of reaching 100 sales after several months. I remember feeling surprised and oh-so-grateful as I sat here and received a notification that I made my 1,000th sale on Etsy just a few short months later! I remember sitting here in my office for nearly 12 solid hours on the day that the I Heart Planners site launched, and I had fun doing it! I don't usually put in such long days, but I really wanted the site to be just right, and I'm pretty sure I took the next day off (which is part of the beauty of having your own business).

I remember sitting at this desk 9 months pregnant wondering how on earth I'd be able to manage a quickly growing business AND a baby! After the baby arrived, she and I spent a lot of time in this office. When she was just a few weeks old I would put her in her bouncy seat next to my desk and bounce it with my foot while I worked. I remember capturing her first smiles on camera in this office. When she was a little older, she would sit in her Bumbo on my desk. She's the cutest assistant ever, isn't she?
