Productivity Secret 4
Here’s the last productivity secret I want to share with you:
Productive people don’t wake up every morning feeling super motivated.
You can set goals with the best of them, have every tool for success in your arsenal, and have a chore chart for your kids that rivals them all – but you are going to get tired one day – that’s normal, and you’re not alone.
No matter how much we wish it, energy is not constant. Sickness happens. Life happens. Sometimes we end up staying up too late and are dragging the entire next day. So what do you do when you’re not feeling motivated in the middle of your best efforts to be your most productive self?
First, you can plan ahead so you have some motivation to pull out of your back pocket when the rainy days come along. Create a vision board or a list of things that make you happy when you’re feeling down. This can be a valuable resource you can refer back to. Write your goals AND your why down where you can see it for the days when you are less motivated.
As always, if you’re looking for a place to start, there are some great options available in the Ultimate Productivity Bundle. Julia Bickerstaff put together an entire Motivation Kit of printables ready for you to think through what inspires and empowers you so you have your arsenal fully loaded up for the not so great times of life.
Second, involving others for some accountability helps you keep going even when you don’t really want to. If I know someone is going to check in on me to see how I’m doing with my habits, I am much more likely to follow through.
Sometimes you just need someone else to listen to the swirling thoughts that are going through your head when you’re overwhelmed. Replenish from the Productivity Bundle is an E-book by Lisa Grace Byrne all about reviving yourself when you’re beginning to feel crushed by all the responsibilities you have.
Third, continuing on after you’ve had a bad day is the most important thing you can do. One bad day won’t make or break you, but a long string of bad days can. I like tracking my goals and habits so I can see progress with something like the goal planner in my I Heart Productivity pack that’s in the bundle:
However, you choose to find your motivation, having an action plan in place ahead of time will be a game changer! As with anything, preparation is key!
