Shark Duo Clean: My Favorite Cordless Vacuum
I’ve finally found it – everything I could ever want in a cordless vacuum!
After years of tirelessly searching, and trying out vacuum after vacuum, I’ve finally found a cordless vacuum I can get behind.
Okay, okay, maybe it’s not as dramatic as all that. But! I did try out FOUR different cordless vacuums before finally finding one that works. My vacuum of choice is the (drumroll please!) Shark Duo Clean. If you want to see the vacuum in action, check out the video below!
CHOOSING TO DITCH THE VACUUM CORD
I made the switch to a cordless vacuum about the time my oldest daughter switched to solid foods. That was when I went from vacuuming once a day or even once a week to vacuuming multiple times every day. Fighting with the cord every time I needed to clean up a mess became a hassle and I knew cordless was the way to go. (Any other mamas out there in the same boat!? ?♀️)
If you’re shopping around for a cordless vacuum, these are the top three things I kept my eye out for:
- A long battery life
- Suction that works on both hard floors and carpet
- A vacuum that isn’t top heavy (the motor is at the bottom so the vacuum can stand straight up on its own)
SHARK DUO CLEAN PROS
Easy to Charge:
The battery for the Shark Duo Clean is fairly big and heavy, but it slides right out of its compartment for easy charging. It’s located toward the base of the vacuum which really helps the weight stay at the bottom. I can simply stand my vacuum up and it stays there – no accidental tipping here!
The vacuum comes with a wall charger for the removable battery. Since the battery can physically be removed from the vacuum, it’s easy to charge anywhere around the house. With a lot of other vacuums, you have to plug in the entire unit. The portable battery allows a more discreet charge. You could even purchase a second battery if your vacuum gets a lot of consistent use.
There are indicator lights at the top of the battery to signal when it’s fully charged. A fully charged battery lasts about 30 minutes.
EASY TO MOVE:
The top of the Shark Duo Clean is sleek and the bulk of the weight is at the base which makes for easy manipulation – I can stand my vacuum up without fear of it tipping over. This unit is a little heavier than some other cordless vacuums I’ve tried, but still lightweight enough that I can carry it up the stairs with ease. The extra weight ended up being a little blessing in my household! My five year old had a habit of trying to pick up the vacuum and place it on top of the dirt. Now, with the slightly heavier vacuum, she’s learned how to roll the vacuum as it’s meant to be used. Added bonus!
The easy movement makes it kid friendly! Even though the Shark Duo Clean is heavier than other cordless vacuums i’ve used, it’s still lighter than most cord vacuums. My kids have been able to use this one with ease! Not to mention, the cordless solutions takes away the need for my youngest kiddo to plug something into the outlet on his own.
Double Roller System:
This is huge for me! I was so tired of needing a new vacuum every year and owning vacuums that didn’t seem to work as well as their price tag would suggest. I really did my homework here to find the best vacuum as far as suction and cleaning power. That’s what vacuums are for, right?!
The Shark Duo Clean really gets its name from its two roller system. One roller is for hardwood cleaning while the other roller is for carpet cleaning. I’ve seen some vacuums where there are separate rollers that can be changed out to go from carpet to hardwood, which honestly can be a big pain. With the Shark Duo Clean, you can switch rollers with just the touch of a button!
As you can see in the photo above, there is quite a bit of hair in my rollers. I’ve yet to use a vacuum that doesn’t get hair stuck in the roller. Unfortunately, that’s just a fact of life. I have long hair and there’s no avoiding that! All that you need to do is periodically clean the hair off the roller (or, in my case, my husband cleans the roller – what a trooper!) I’ve never experienced a problem where hair has made the vacuum have issues or stop working. Just keep up on your maintenance and you’ll be golden!
Vacuum Flexibility:
A really nice feature of the Shark Duo Clean is that the little piece of the vacuum that holds the dirt container and the battery can be removed from the handle. I’ve seen it in ads where people have held this piece in their hand and then taken advantage of the thin handle to really get under chairs and tables. I personally don’t typically use this feature much, but it’s great for getting into smaller spaces or even vacuuming out your car.
The wand attachment for this guy is really unbeatable! Since the dirt container and battery pack unit can be removed, the handle can be left behind completely! All you need is the small pack unit and the wand and you’re completely free from the main vacuum head. This especially makes it easy for cleaning up high or getting those hard to reach areas. I know on a cord vacuum, the wand can never truly detach from the main vacuum head which can make using it to its full potential difficult. The Shark Duo Clean can do more than any vacuum I’ve had before and has eliminated my need for a handheld vacuum.
A Little Boost:
The main power button is located at the top of the handle and right under it are the buttons to switch the rollers from the hardwood to carpet. Right next to those, there is a little boost button. Honestly, I’ve never had to use the boost, but if you have a particularly stubborn area, just tap that button to get some extra suction.
(Not too) Loud and Proud:
If you’re worried about noise, I would say the Shark Duo Clean has about an average noise level. I’ve had some quieter vacuums and I’ve definitely had some louder vacuums. The noise has never been an issue for me, but if that’s something you’re curious about, know that it is completely average in the noise department.
There you have it! Maybe the Shark Duo Clean is the vacuum you’ve been looking for. I know it was for me! If you’re ready to try it out for yourself, you can get the Shark Duo Clean here. If you have another vacuum that you’re simply in love with, let me know which one in the comments!

I too have a Shark vacuum and love it! Mine is corded, but the upright makes vacuuming so much easier than a canister type. We’ve had Electrolux, Rainbow, & Bissell and Shark out cleans them all. I got hooked on vacation using a small Shark in a condo we frequented and have never looked back. I’ve been reading about the robotic types Shark and others have out now. Who doesn’t it appeal to having the floors vacuumed without having to get out the machine, push it around, clean it up, and put it back? I visited a friend last weekend who has Shark’s new robotic vac that even allows the machine to dump its dirt once finished with vacuuming. It’s a bit on the high $ end and my vac still works great so I’m not replacing it any time soon. Yet, I keep up the research and this friend will be a good source to maintain a check on the Sharp’s reliability. I definitely see a robot vac in my future!
