OXO vs. Tupperware–Which is Better?
I love pretty much all types of organizing containers, but I must confess that I love some more than others. Tupperware and OXO containers are both really popular, and I’ve had and used both for many years. So, which is better?
Here’s a short video where I show you the differences between the two and explain what I like and don’t like about each:
Here’s the pros and cons of each:
- Appearance: Both look really nice and organized, although I think the OXO are a little bit nicer and sleeker looking, plus you they are more clear so you can see right through room. However, a major con of Tupperware is that they change the colors of their lids all the time! That is super annoying. If I need a new container, I can’t get the same color lid, so mine are all mismatching. I will admit that OXO has changed their lid style some, but it’s remained the same color.
- Price & Durability: Both are similarly priced, and are a true investment. The good thing is that they are both very durable and long lasting. Tupperware even has a lifetime guarantee that they honor if something breaks. I don’t wash either in the dishwasher just to help with durability. I will say, if you wash Tupperware lids in the dishwasher, they will warp some. Don’t do it!
- Stacking & Versatility: It’s possible to configure Tupperware in more ways than OXO because you can stack two shapes side by side on top of another shape. (The video illustrates that more clearly.) Also I like the special lids for measuring spoons with Tupperware. Also, I think Tupperware offers more sizes overall.
- Freshness – The real question, how good of a job does each do of keeping your food fresh and not stale? With Tupperware, nothing will ever go stale! You can keep crackers in them for months, and they will remain crisp. Crackers in the OXO containers will go stale after a few weeks. That seals the deal for me! Tupperware wins!
So, who wins? Tupperware takes the trophy from me! What seals the deal is that it simply does a better job of keeping food fresh. However, I do also use and love OXO containers.
What do you think? Which do you prefer?

YAY! As a Tupperware Consultant I was soooooo glad to see an obvious winner! I used to have OXO but after breaking 2 containers and having to spend money to replace them; I was very happy to have Tupperware come into my life 🙂

Great video Laura! I only have a few pieces of Tubberware but this makes me want to buy more. Love the labels. The different lids bother me too!

Well ladies as a Tupperware Consultant, I totally agree with what has been said about both containers. The both have their benefits and down falls. But Tupperware wins out in the end because 1) they nest together better with different sizes, 2)keep food fresher longer, 3) Tupperware has a life time warranty on breakage, chipping, cracking and peeling. 4) the investment only needs to be made once not over and over again. 5) Tupperware keeps coming out with new and improved containers too.
Try the Fridgesmarts for the fridge, Freezermates for the freezer, How about Vent-N-Serves for cooking in the Microwave and then storing your leftovers in the fridge.

TUPPERWARE SEALS WERE BEST FOR ME IN THE STATES, BUT IN OTHER HOTTER COUNTRIES, THE SEALS GOT BRITTLE AND MELTED. tHE CONTAINERS ARE STILL STURDY AND INTACT AFTER SOME 18 YEARS AND HAVE NOT YELLOWED, BUT THEY ARE LIDLESS. SAD…

GREAT video! Well done.

I have both— I use both.
I like them both for many the same reasons you do.
But some times it just comes down to the fit in my pantry.

I love Tupperware myself, but then again–I’m consultant too! Just wanted to point out that Tupperware’s Modular Mates containers are frosty for a reason– not to keep you from seeing what’s inside but to help with freshness! Light can change the color/appearance of some foods over time, so it’s actually a helpful feature that most don’t realize!

THANK YOU!!! I love this! I really want to invest in some kind of Organization for my Pantry (I have started, but I purchased Rubbermaid)

Nice, but just to throw another on in the mix. Lock n Lock win hands down over all other containers, just my 2 cents 🙂

Tupperware beats out everything! I still have my Tupperware from the 50’s !!! [which my grandmother handed down to me]
It still preforms just as well as my new Tupperware! You can’t beat Tupperware value! I had 8 children, plus my 18 grandchildren have all used my Tupperware and it’s still in great shape for the great-grandchildren to use!
I use it in the kitchen, pantry, garage, sewingroom, bathroom and every other room!

Thank you for taking the time to do this video. I just came across these oxo containers, and was wondering how they were different compaired to Tupperware. I used to sell Tupperware and have a bunch of modular mates with the tan lids that I like a lot.

I like the Oxo Pop containers best. I use them to store baking supplies and crackers. I do not find that crackers go stale in them. When I lived in a dry climate, the gaskets would some times lose their grip, but this doesn’t happen anymore.
I don’t like the way you have to pry the lids off of tupperware, and I think Oxo’s plastic is safer and more durable. Oh and I like that I can take off the Oxo lids one-handed.
I don’t use either of these for refrigerator storage, and I don’t microwave plastic.

Post authorThanks for the feedback – interesting that your crackers never go stale – maybe I’m doing something wrong.

I have had Tupperware for years. I use Tupperware for all my cooking ingredients. I got the Oxo for all our snack foods & cereals only because my boys would never put the lid back on Tupperware properly. I love/prefer the look of oxo, especially the rectangle ones I can grab easily. I was wondering about the freshness of food in them. So thank you for clearing that matter up.
Snacks & cereals really don’t last long enough in our house to go stable, so I will continue

May I simply say what a relief to uncover someone who truly knows
what they are discussing on the net. You definitely understand how to bring an issue
to light and make it important. A lot more people really need to
check this out and understand this side of your story.
I was surprised that you’re not more popular given that you most certainly
possess the gift.

My mom works in Tupperware for over 20 years as their accountant. But she always get discount and gifts from managers or consultant. Growing up our family only use Tupperware as our containers, cutlery etc literally everything food related and jewellery holder too hahaha
They always a winner
