Office Organization Ideas
Hi friends! Hannah, from I Heart Planners here! People talk all the time about “dream jobs.” Well, I think that in another life, I was intended to have the position at Target or Ikea or Home Goods responsible for setting up and staging different furniture. I absolutely love getting creative with different décor styles, colors and textures. Anyone know what that position is called or anyone who is hiring? ?
Recently, my husband and I bought a house that has an extra room for an office. We are using this room as my office/craft room/TV room/reading room. Basically, your average multi-purpose room. I have had so much fun styling and decorating, especially my desk. Now I’m here to share all my ideas with you!
I have four items that I really think make a huge difference when it comes to having a clean, cute and organized desk. I’ve styled my own desk four different ways. I’m going to link the items that I can, and I’m going to link similar items for anything else.
Let’s get started!
Tip #1: Use Plants or Greenery to Style Your Desk
You’re going to want some sort of plant or greenery. I think that the plant that you choose really sets the stage for the style of your desk. Something in a bright, white pot is going to help brighten your desk and give the area a modern vibe. If you’re looking to take a dark room and make it sunnier, white flowers combined with the white vase make things much brighter.
I love the look of mismatched vases and pitchers to bring a little farmhouse or slightly country look. Add in mismatched greenery with a few florals, and you have yourself a great style that lends itself to a relaxed atmosphere.
A glass vase with a little lamb’s ear gives a very classic and clean touch. Sometimes less is more. A little green and a little glass go a long way.
If you’re feeling like the room is drab or has too many neutrals, a pop of color from faux flowers might be the perfect touch. Tulips and succulents are currently very popular right now. Definitely showing a more modern style, this look can bring a happy vibe to a room.
Tip #2: Use cute, fun pens to style your desk
My second suggestion is cute, fun pens. Depending on your style, you may go for colorful, fine tipped sharpies or you may love the bright, clean look of white, Poppin pens. Whatever you chose, I recommend that you select something that you actually enjoy writing with! This means that the pens are both functional and pretty!
Tip #3: Use something motivational to style your desk
I always work better when I’m surrounded by something motivating or inspirational! A letter board is a very modern way to add quotes and sayings to your environment, but you don’t have to be so fancy. I often use post-it’s to keep me motivated and to help me remember why I’m doing what I’m doing!
Tip #4: Use a planner on your desk
My last recommendation… and this should come as no surprise considering the team I love working with, but I love planners! My planner is something that I use every single day. It contains my lists, my plans, and my appointments. It’s always out on my desk, and so that means that it is important to me to have it be cute. I Heart Planners not only has a cute planner, but we also create beautiful printables. It’s important to use materials that look pretty so you don’t mind having them out on your desk.
A few other tips that I use to help me in styling my desk:
- Don’t keep a junk drawer. Have a place for everything. Make space for the stuff that matters. Get rid of the stuff that doesn’t.
- Keep extra paper, post-its and pens within reach. This will maximize efficiency, especially when you’re on an important phone call or when an idea hits you, and you need to jot down a quick note.
- Utilize drawers and keep surfaces clear. Clear surfaces provide space to spread out and tackle projects productively. You should clean up any projects before starting a new one. This will avoid unnecessary clutter.
That’s it! Those are my tips for styling a clean, cute and organized desk! What do you think? Which style is your favorite?
