Mandala Art – What fits your mood?
Hi friends! On the quest of researching and putting together our Sweet Life BUJO Planner, we have discovered one of the most amazing pieces to our bullet journal puzzle, The Mood Mandala. Once we realized how awesome Mood Mandalas were and how truly personal they can be, we decided to shed some light on what they are, how they work and provide a few design inspirations to get you started on yours. Are you ready to dig in?
What is a Mood Mandala?
OK Planners! Let’s discuss what a Mood Mandala really is….
A Mood Mandala is an artistic way of tracking your mood. Each day of the month gets a special space for you to color in to describe what you are feeling.
The purpose of a Mood Mandala is to help you unwind at the end of the day and also provide a way for self-reflection.
How Do I Create One?
I’m glad you asked! Well for starters, I want you to think of the most dazzling and intricate mandala art design. One that is so fancy, it should be on the cover of Mood Mandalas Magazine.
Do you have your mandala art design in your mind? Great! Now think of what would it would take to create it. If you are really artsy you can draw your design by hand. If not bring out the protractors and stencils, it’s going to be a bumpy night!
But it doesn’t have to be. Mood mandalas come in all shapes, styles, and sizes. You don’t have to be a Henna tattoo artist to create a mood mandala. Simple Mandala artwork like circles, stars, and hearts also get the job done.
You also have the option of allowing us to create one for you! In our Bujo Kit you will find a series of mood mandalas to choose from.
How do I decide what my key would look like?
Your key is very important when it comes to expressing yourself. It is your guide to mapping out your display of emotions throughout the month. If you like to stay consistent with the design of your mood mandala, you can draw a portion of the mood mandala design off to the side and color it in as you see fit. You can draw emojis and pick the color that most fits that emotion. You can also just free form and color in a space next to the mood description.
Creating your mood descriptions can be simple. You can do one color for each individual emotion.
Or you can bunch up a few emotions that you feel are in the same category to create a specific color scheme.
Either way, it’s up to you. My suggestion is to try one the first month and try the second style the next until you feel comfortable enough with the key style that you have chosen.
What if I feel multiple emotions in a day?
No Biggie! Just leave enough space to use multiple colors for the day.
Will you use one?
Adding a mood mandala provides a way for your planner to become a creative diary and optimal scheduler all in one! It doesn’t get any better than that!
