Day 14 and a Progress Check
It’s day 14 of the self discipline challenge. If you’re new, you can read what’s it all about here. Don’t worry, it’s not too late to jump in at any point. You’ll need the ebook 21 Days to a More Disciplined Life.
Today we’re talking about setting yourself up for success. I think there are times when we have no choice put to power through and force ourselves to do things when we absolutely don’t feel like to accomplish our goals. However, as much as we can, we should set ourselves up for success in order to avoid having to do this.
Think about ways you can set yourself up for success on your goals. If you’re trying to change a simple habit, maybe you could set yourself a reminder. If you’re trying to get up earlier, then start with going to bed earlier. Personally, in my effort to consistently keep my shoes put away where they belong, I’ve made it easier to put them away. I used to stop and reorganize everything within the shoe cabinet when I put them away, and I had a specified order I wanted the shoes to be in. I’ve realized that’s just a total waste of time, so I just basically throw them in there! I just removed an obstacle.
I must confess that I’m doing pretty poorly with the goal I made on Day 3 to avoid the snooze button. Granted, I made some improvement, but I’m still snoozing way too much. The root of the problem is that I’ve allowed myself to get pretty far behind on sleep such that it’s nearly impossible to catch up and I’m always exhausted. I need to work on this, so I can more easily carry out my no-snooze goal.
Ironically, I absolutely didn’t want to do this challenge today, because I’m so tired. This is one of those days where I just need to force myself to keep on going, and I know I’ll be so glad that I did.
How’s the challenge going for you so far? We’re more than halfway through, and I’d love to hear how it’s going for you.

Hi! You can see that I’m a bit behind!!! 🙂 but still trying to press on, at least w/the habits and the reading of crystal’s book and your updates. the mega project works better for me in the morning, after I’ve got at least a couple of kids off to school. I’m encouraged when i see the things that I’ve actually done, but disappointed that that hasn’t translated into spurring me on to more work! oh, well. like before…better than nothing!
