7 Surprising Ways to Use a Lazy Susan Organizer
Some things are flat out tricky to organize. Cords and cables? Eek. Under the kitchen sink? Double eek. The hard to reach corner of the pantry? Yikes! Let me introduce you to one of my favorite and most versatile organizing tools: the lazy susan organizer (often called a turntable organizer).
These rotating containers are perfect for organizing oddly shaped items that you need to have easy access to. Since it rotates, nothing gets stuck in the back of a cabinet or shelf to be forgotten. There are so many things you can organize with a lazy susan (and tons of options out there for sizes and colors!) The Best Lazy Susan Organizers
If you want to use these lazy susans to organize your home, the first question you probably have is: which type of lazy susan organizer should I buy? Are some better than others? There is no one type that is always best as it depends on how and where you're going to use it. Here are some of my favorites:
- Divided clear acrylic lazy susan organizer with 5 compartments – This is my go to turntable that I use the most throughout my house. It's high quality, turns easily, has high sides and 5 compartments. The hide sides are great so nothing falls out (like tall bottles), and you can even store things like dishwasher tabs in them.
- Flat 12 inch lazy susan organizer with a small lip and non skid surface – This organizer is great for bottles and oils. I love the non skid surface so things don't slide around, and the small lip to prevent things from slipping off. This is perfect to go inside a cabinet or pantry.
- Flat 9 inch lazy susan organizer with small lip and non skid surface – This is much like the above organizer, except smaller. Note that it comes in a 2 pack.
- Two tier adjustable height lazy susan organizer – This one is perfect for maximizing vertical space since it has two levels. The height is even adjustable!
- Lazy Susan Organizer with built in containers – This lazy susan comes with 9 containers shaped to fit it perfectly. There are 3 tall containers and then 6 shorter containers that stack. I love how the base of the turntable has ridges so that the container will stay in place as you turn. It's probably one of the best value lazy susan organizers since it comes with the containers.
Surprising Ways to Use Lazy Susan Organizers
I encourage you to think outside the box when it comes to how you use these. Here are 7 ways I have used them:
Under the Kitchen Sink Lazy Susan Organizer
I use this one under my kitchen sink. I use 3 compartments for my dishwasher tabs. One compartment has disposable gloves and sink stoppers. The last compartment has my jet dry and vegetable brush.
Everyday Essentials Lazy Susan Organizer
I keep this organizer on a shelf near my desk in my office. It may appear to hold random items, but these are my most frequently used items. One compartment holds nail polishes and another holds fake nails. I always do my nails while sitting at my desk watching trainings or Youtube videos, so it's most convenient to store my nail stuff there. Another compartment has screen cleaning supplies for my computer, phone, and ipad screens. Another compartment stores little tools that keep cords tied up (because I hate cord clutter). The last compartment holds cord adapters.
Craft Supplies Lazy Susan Organizer
These turntables are perfect for storing kids or adult craft supplies. This one holds pom poms, markers, popsicle sticks, and acrylic paints. Pro tip: If you want to be able to see what color the paints are from the top, but a little dab of paint on top of the lids.
Makeup and Toiletries Lazy Susan Organizer
This turntable holds all the toiletries and makeup I need to get ready each day. It's really amazing how much just this one lazy susan holds. One compartment has all my foundations (and I think I own more foundation than most people because I'm obsessed with finding the perfect one that stays on, covers my rosacea fully, doesn't make me look too washed out, and doesn't give me harsh make up lines). The next compartment has other face makeup (blushes and things). The next has my eyeshadow palettes and mascara. Another has moisturizer, deodorant, and a brush cleaning spray. The last compartment has cotton rounds and extra brushes. I have my eye makeup brushes in the little center hole. This organizer can stay out on the counter or fit in a deep drawer or under the bathroom sink.
Kids Toys Lazy Susan Organizer
This turntable is perfect for organizing small kids toys. This one stores little doll accessories. My daughter can keep the separated by kit. It's also good for matchbox cars, legos, and more.
Cord Control Lazy Susan Organizer
This is probably my favorite use for one of these lazy susan organizers – probably because of how passionate I am about controlling the cord clutter. This one houses, all my usb to iphone cords in one compartment. Pro tip: Make sure you secure the cords somehow before putting them in, or it will create a jumbled mess of cords. The next comparment has all my USB to non iphone cords (like the ones for my shower speaker, headphones, Kindle, etc). Next, I have the gadgets I use to secure the cords. Then I keep all the power bricks in one compartment, since these are interchangeable. Then I have adapters in another compartment.
Kitchen Oils and Flavorings Lazy Susan Organizer
This lazy susan fits nicely inside my upper cabinet. It holds my cooking sprays, flavoring bottles, molasses, and honey. I love that I can easily see what I have and nothing gets lost in the back.
Packaged Snacks Lazy Susan Organizer
Turntables with high sides are ideal for holding grab and go snacks. Pro tip: Put healthy snacks in the turntable to make it fun for your kids.
Office Essentials Lazy Susan Organizer
This holds several office items. It has my label maker, extra label tape, washi tape, index cards, stick tabs, and pens.
I hope this has given you some great organizing inspiration. Let me know in the comments how you use these lazy susan organizers. Also, be sure to pin this for later:
Margaret Says
I use my lazy susan for my corner of the kitchen on the counter for storage of large canisters with coffee, sweetener, sugar, coffee filters and a roll of paper towels. It spins for whatever I need, the coffee maker is right next to it so it is convenient. I don’t use that space for anything anyway, its hard to reach back there. So now all the things on it come to me as I spin it! Love that thing!
